Cut a Rock AFK and Offline Earnings

Checked

Stepping away from Cut a Rock does not freeze your entire save, but progress depends heavily on which systems continue running unattended. While you are offline or away from the keyboard, cutting machines process loaded stones, regional farm countdowns continue to cycle, and the game tracks passive revenue. However, automation is strictly limited by manual collection requirements. If a cutting machine completes its job and the finished stone remains uncollected, that station stops accepting new rocks until you clear the slot. The HUD displays an offline earnings counter, where a single point-in-time observation in the guide video showed Offline Earnings: 72K/hour on a developed account. That figure represents one specific account snapshot; the game provides no universal baseline for all players. Making proper preparation before stepping away keeps your setup productive.

Three systems that keep running while you are away

The official game listing promises: Gain Power offline—your machines keep cutting while you're away!. When you leave the game running AFK or disconnect entirely, three distinct mechanics continue operating in the background.

Cutting machines process any stones that were placed into their slots prior to departure. The cutting timer continues ticking down until the process finishes.

Regional farm countdown timers continue cycling toward their next payout or harvest window. In the guide video, the HUD shows active countdown trackers above the offline earnings line, including readings such as Next Rainbow Farm 1m 27s and Next Gold Farm 4m 39s, alongside shorter intervals like 3s and 1m 15s.

The game records offline accumulation on the HUD's dedicated earnings meter. This passive accumulation rewards returning players with currency based on their progression status when they reconnect.

Understanding the HUD offline earnings reading

In the lower-right corner of the screen, the guide video captures a persistent HUD display reading Offline Earnings: 72K/hour.

This reading is a single empirical observation from that player's playthrough. It is not a guaranteed rate for all accounts. The game developer has not published the underlying math governing how offline income is calculated, nor whether the rate scales with floor depth, unlocked pickaxes, or machine upgrades. No public source publishes a universal cash per hour schedule. Consequently, players should view the 72K/hour figure as evidence that offline generation exists and scales into significant sums, while recognizing that their personal rate will reflect their individual account standing.

Cutting machine limits and stalling conditions

A major point of failure during unattended sessions occurs at the cutting stations. Detailed operational rules are covered in the cutting machines guide, but the core constraint centers on the manual collection step.

During normal operation, placing a rock into a cutter initiates a countdown. In gameplay recordings, stone timer displays showed remaining intervals such as 12s, 21s, and 24s. When the timer reaches zero, the screen displays Cutting complete! Collect your stone from the machine, and the machine interface prompts Ready! (E).

Because the game requires players to press E to collect finished stones, unattended machines cannot automatically transfer processed materials into your backpack. If a machine finishes its cut while you are absent, that station sits idle with the completed rock held in the chamber. It will not draw additional stones from your inventory. If all your machines complete their cuts, mechanical processing halts completely until you return and interact with each unit.

Three actions to complete before logging off

To prevent lost time during an AFK or offline interval, complete these three preparatory steps before disconnecting:

  1. Empty your backpack at the sell station. Stand in front of the sell counter, open the panel with [E] Sell Rocks, and use SELL ALL to clear your inventory. This ensures you have open space (up to your 3/3 backpack limit) to receive cut stones immediately upon returning, as detailed in the cash upgrade guide.
  2. Load every cutting machine. Distribute your harvested rocks across all available cutters so that every machine begins counting down simultaneously. This guarantees that your full machine capacity produces value while you step away.
  3. Position your character for AFK training. If you leave your client connected to the server, walk your character to the highest accessible anvil in the AFK training zone. Because anvil training runs continuously without requiring a manual item pickup after each swing, leaving your character on an anvil ensures steady Power accumulation throughout the session.

What to check first when you return

When you reconnect to the server or return to your keyboard, follow this collection sequence to resume active mining:

  • Approach each cutter displaying Ready! (E) and collect the finished materials into your backpack. This resets the machines so they can accept new rough stones.
  • Check the lower-right corner of the HUD to review accrued offline earnings and see the time remaining on upcoming farm events, such as Next Rainbow Farm or Next Gold Farm.
  • Walk to the sell platform and convert freshly collected cut gems into liquid cash.
  • Reinvest accumulated cash into higher-priority machine upgrades or floor unlocks before setting out on your next mining run.
